Cooperation opportunity between Australia and Vietnam in oder to promote the macadamia industry

On March 16, at the Vietnam-Australia Business Forum, the most important investment promotion event in the framework of the official visit to Australia by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc took place in Sydney, The Vietnam Macadamia Assocciation (VMA) and the Australian Macadamia Association (AMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the development of the macadamia industry in both countries and the world.

Following the co-operation between the VMA and the AMA, the two sides will continue to exchange, share experiences and support individuals and businesses in Vietnam who wish to explore and cooperate with Australian individuals and businesses, especially in the field of consumption, jointly organize market assessment, research and forecasting activities, as well as other related activities to promote the development of the macadamia industry of the two countries and the world.

Each year, with financial condition allowing, the two sides will hold a meeting to review the work done in the past year and to work out the plan for the next year.

Mr. Nguyen Lan Hung - Vice Chairman of VAM and Mr. Jolyon Burnett - General Director of AMA exchanged the agreement with witness of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Australia and representatives of the two countries.

According to Nguyen Duc Huong, Chairman of LienVietPostBank, Vice Chairman of the VMA, Mr. Huong and the VMA are playing the role of "bridge" for development, contributing to helping the people in the Central Highlands and the Northwest to escape from poverty, to become rich. In recent years, not only trial planting successful in Tay Nguyen, through research, Tay Bac is also the promised land for effective mating and social welfare for people in Tay Bac, thus if producing a large-scale of macadamia will help thousands of workers are ethnic people have jobs, stabilize life because of higher income than many decades ago.

To be able to develop the Vietnam’s macadamia industry with in-depth process, not only serve the domestic market but also export to high quality markets. Vietnam need to focus on further research to apply effective technology, developing standards for nursery techniques, cultivation, preservation, processing products which are suitable with international quality standards.
