MACCAVIP.JSC COOPERATES WITH THE INSTITUE OF SANDALWOOD AND RARE FLORA (ISAF)

As part of the long-term strategy to develop rare and precious species in the world which are planted in Vietnam, in December 2017 Macca VIP Joint Stock Company signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Sandalwood and rare Flora (ISAF), which initially marked the breeding process of rare and economically valuable flora species, contributing to poverty reduction.

The signing ceremony of this cooperation agreement was considered as a breakthrough of Macca VIP JSC when it received the support of the local authorities and ISAF for planting experiments intercropping between Macadamia, Sandawood and some rare medicinal floras on 100ha of land owned by Macca VIP in Na Tong commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province.

Sandalwood is known as the national tree of India, not only by eternal spiritual value but also by high economic value. In India, people have used sandalwood as an essential product of social life more than 4000 years ago.

Sandalwood is considered "green gold" because it has many valuable effects for human. The wood core of the tree is used for producting of fine arts and luxury interior furniture ... The roots and small branches are crushed to powder which used in beauty technology, production of high-quality skin care. The leaves are processed into high quality tea and drinking water. Fruit and nuts can be made food, extracted into essential oils, etc.

The use of sandalwood has been demonstrated through many prestigious scientific studies. The medicinal ingredients in the plant are good for filtering blood toxins, alcohol, etc. In addition, sandalwood also helps minimize the effects of climate change, repels warming of the Earth.

After a survey tour to the terrain in Tay Bac, ISAF found that the location was favorable, the weather was mild and suitable for the development of sandalwood, Maca VIP and ISAF have come to the process of carefully discussing and signing a cooperation agreement to plant trials intercropping of Sandalwood on the land where are planted Macadamia. After the first phase of the trial, the two sides will expand the area.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Huynh Van Chien, Chairman of Macca VIP JSC, said: "This cooperation will be an opportunity for both sides to share their strengths together to reach the bigger targets, contribute to the development of the Tay Bac upland economy. Moreover, Mrs. Tran Thi Hieu - Director of the Research Institute emphasized: "It is very necessary for pioneer enterprises like Macca VIP to boldly invest in order to help research institute realizing bringing the rare and precious plant varieties in the world for planting and developing in Vietnam.".
